Weekly Art Tip – Sketching Made Easy
SKETCHING MADE EASY

1. Helping lines method
Print your reference and draw guiding lines with a ruler. Use a pastel pencil for light, erasable lines. Outline main shapes first, then mark key areas.

2. Grid method
Draw a grid on your reference and transfer it to your paper. Work square by square for accuracy. Erase the grid after outlining.

3. Tracing and transfer paper method
Place tracing paper on the back of your reference. Trace the outlines onto pastel paper with a harder pencil. Go over the lines with a pastel pencil for visibility.

4. Paste pigment transfer method
Apply soft pastel to the back of your reference. Trace over the lines to transfer the pigment. Refine the outlines with a pastel pencil.
